I am not being modest with this one because honestly, this guacamole is INCREDIBLE! I dare you to gather the ingredients and make it for yourself. Whether you’re looking for a quick snack, making a big spread of dishes or celebrating Cinco De Mayo this Guacamole will be on repeat all year long! I’ve added a secret ingredient to this recipe that you will absolutely love! It’s time to elevate your senses and spend ten minutes making a salsa that will have you dancing around the house in happiness!

True to Jackfruitful flair, this recipe honors the traditional roots of guacamole while weaving in a touch of innovation, with an ideal balance among the creamy texture of avocados, the crisp sharpness of red onion, the kick of jalapeño, and the fresh zest of lime. The introduction of my secret ingredient offers a vibrant and fresh take on a beloved classic. Perfect for social gatherings, family meals, or as a nutritious snack, this guacamole is a conversational dish and will become a staple in your home, just as it has in mine!

What You’ll Need To Make Guacamole

  • Avocados: Is it even a guacamole if there are no avocados!? The essential base, avocados should be ripe for a creamy, buttery texture. Opt for an avocado that is soft to the touch but not mushy, if it’s too hard it’s not the avocado for this recipe!
  • Salt and Pepper: Basic seasonings that enhance the natural flavors of the avocados and balance the sweetness of the mango.
  • Cumin: Although not traditional in authentic Mexican guacamole; cumin is often used to add a warm, earthy undertone that complements the sweet and spicy components.
  • Garlic Powder: Provides a robust depth of flavor that contrasts nicely with the freshness of the other ingredients. Fresh garlic is also an option but use sparingly as it is more potent than powdered.
  • Limes: The juice is critical for its tangy zest, which brightens the overall flavors and helps preserve the vibrant green color of the avocados.
  • Cilantro: Adds a burst of fresh, herby flavor that is quintessential to guacamole.
  • Cherry Tomatoes: Chosen for their juicy sweetness to counter the richness of the avocado. Roma tomato is typically used in traditional guacamole and can be substituted if cherry tomatoes are not available.
  • Red Onion: Offers a sharp, aromatic bite that cuts through the creaminess.
  • Jalapeño: Introduces a spicy kick, which you can adjust depending on your heat preference.
  • Mango: My secret ingredient that you often don’t see in guacamole! Adding fresh mango provides an additional tropical sweetness that beautifully ties together the creamy avocado and the zesty lime notes.

What Is Guacamole?

Guacamole is a cherished Mexican dish with roots tracing back to the Aztecs, celebrated for its rich, creamy texture and versatile flavor. Made primarily from avocados, a fruit indigenous to Mexico and Central America, authentic guacamole blends buttery avocados with traditional ingredients like onions, tomatoes, cilantro, chiles, and lime. These components enhance the avocado’s creaminess with bursts of freshness, heat, and acidity, while lime juice preserves the vibrant green color and salt brings out the depth of flavors. In Mexican cuisine, guacamole is more than just a dip; it’s an essential companion to many dishes including tacos, quesadillas, or simply enjoyed with tortilla chips.

How to Make The Best Guacamole EVER

This process will take you 10 minutes max! Begin by mashing the ripe avocados in a mixing bowl to your desired consistency. Mash less if you prefer a chunkier dip and if you like it very creamy mash intensely or blitz in the blender. Mix in the salt, pepper, a hint of cumin, garlic powder, and fresh lime juice to establish a flavorful base. Then finely chopped fresh cilantro, tomatoes, red onion, jalapeno and mango. If you are going for a chunky guacamole do not finely chop and go for a more roughly chop.

Once prepared, fold in the cilantro, cherry tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño, and mango. This combination of ingredients not only enhances the texture but also the complex flavor profile of the guacamole. Chill in the refrigerator before serving to let the flavors meld beautifully.

How to Serve Guacamole

Guacamole’s incredible versatility makes it an ideal choice for both appetizers and snacks. It pairs wonderfully with a classic side of crispy tortilla chips, inviting guests to dip and enjoy at casual gatherings or elegant parties alike. For a healthier twist (and my favorite way to enjoy it) chop up some fresh veggies such as cucumber or bell pepper and dip them into the homemade guacamole.

Additionally, guacamole enhances the flavors of various main dishes. It serves as a flavorful addition to tacos, burritos and quesadillas where its creamy texture melds seamlessly with other fillings. The vibrant flavors of guacamole make it a favorite at any gathering or perfect as the starter to any meal.

Pick Ripe Avocados for the Best Guacamole

Choosing the right avocados is crucial for perfect guacamole. Look for perfectly ripe avocados, meaning they are slightly soft to the touch but without dark sunken spots or cracks. Ripe avocados will yield the best texture and flavor, making your guacamole truly stand out. If you choose an avocado that is not ripe enough you risk having a hard interior and will greatly reduce the creaminess of this dish.

Tips For Making Guacamole Ahead

The greatest part about guacamole is how quickly it comes together. 10 minutes or less and you’ve got yourself a fresh dip for any occasion; however, if you need to make your guacamole in advance, squeeze extra lime juice over the top and press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole. Doing these two things will greatly reduce or prevent oxidation to the avocado.

How to Store Homemade Guacamole

I highly recommend eating guacamole immediately. However, if you’ve made more than possible to consume you can store leftover guacamole in an airtight container and press a piece of plastic wrap directly on the surface before sealing with a lid. This helps minimize air exposure and keeps your guacamole fresh for longer.

Why You’ll Love This Homemade Guacamole Recipe

This easy guacamole recipe is a crowd-pleaser thanks to its rich, creamy texture and the unique twist of mango which introduces an unexpected sweetness. It’s a versatile dish that’s perfect for any occasion, and once you try it, it’s bound to become your go-to guacamole recipe. Guacamole is also naturally dairy free, gluten free, vegan and protein packed from the avocados!
